There is a grass roots effort to enact a constitutional amendment in Michigan that will make our government leaders more accountable to the people and ensure our leaders better align with the majority of voters.  This is a historic opportunity to support a movement that can make a major positive impact to government accountability…I’ll outline the reasons you should consider supporting or joining this initiative.

• Currently, public opinion on issues has very little impact on what government does about it.   A Princeton University study found: “The preferences of the average American appear to have only a miniscule, near-zero, statistically non-significant impact upon public policy.” 

• The two-party duopoly practically has a lock on our government positions, and is moving more to the extremes, resulting in failure to collaborate on solutions that we need.

• For democracy to work, leaders need to be truly accountable to the people, and our system needs to be open to more candidates – driving more real competition for our votes.

• Ranked Choice Voting is a proven system that selects a candidate that better represents the majority of voters, allowing our politics to be more collaborative.  

• By ranking the candidates in order of preference, voters are free to vote for independent or third party candidates, and still have their vote go to their preferred major party candidate if their first choice is eliminated.  The process results in a winner when one of the candidates is the top remaining pick of a majority of voters.

• Rank MI Vote is a grass roots organization that has led successful Ranked Choice Voting campaigns in several Michigan cities, and is targeting a ballot initiative for state wide Ranked Choice Voting in 2026 – this is an effort by the people, for the people
• I’ve met with the leaders of Rank MI Vote, and they are genuinely good people that care about improving our democracy – just like me

• We are building a large team to collect the signatures needed to get on the 2026 Michigan ballot and make the case to voters…the best way to reach that goal is for this message to go viral so that we need just a little support from each person.
• We need everyone that cares about making things better for our country, our state, and the people in it to take a look, share this message, and consider how they may want to support this cause.
